The URCE program strives to get a greater number of faculty and students from groups that are not traditionally users of XSEDE resources interested in, and involved with, XSEDE's advanced digital research services and ecosystem.

Increasing diversity is vital to America's future and is a foundation for two of XSEDE's strategic goals:

  • Preparing the current and next generation of scholars, researchers, practitioners, and engineers in the use of advanced digital technologies through training, education, outreach, and consultations
  • Raising the general awareness of the value of advanced digital research services

URCE Program Components

We assist underrepresented minorities (URM) and Minority Serving Institution (MSI) faculty in joining the XSEDE community so that they can benefit from the resources and services provided. And we work collaboratively with individual researchers and institutions to promote sustained engagement and growth. The four main elements of the URCE program are:

  • Conference exhibiting
  • Campus visits
  • Regional workshops
  • Minority research community calls

To learn more about the URCE program, request a campus visit or workshop, or to be added to the Minority Research Community listserv, e-mail Linda Akli of the Southeastern Universities Research Association (SURA), akli@sura.org.
