XSEDE13 Registration Now Open!

Registration is now open for XSEDE13, the annual conference focused on science, education, outreach, software, and technology related to the National Science Foundation's Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment. XSEDE13 will bring together hundreds of scientists, technology experts, educators, and students July 22-25, 2013, at the Marriott Marquis & Marina in San Diego.

XSEDE13 includes high-quality presentations in tracks devoted to Science, Technology, Gateways, and Education/Outreach; hands-on tutorials; a showcase of scientific visualizations; birds-of-a-feather meetings; an extensive program for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students; posters and lightning talks; sponsor exhibits and a job fair. [NOTE: Submissions for the visualization showcase, BOFs, and posters are due APRIL 12.] One day of the conference will focus on the biosciences, including a panel discussion in which experts will explore the role of computation and data analytics in supporting biological discovery.

Among the exciting speakers at XSEDE13 will be:

Kaitlin Thaney, a technologist and open advocate who serves as the manager of external partnerships for Digital Science, a technology company that works to make research more efficient. She recently served as manager of the science programs at Creative Commons and is an organizer of Science Foo Camp.

LeManuel "Lee" Bitsóí has devoted his career to enhancing opportunities for under-represented minority students to become scientists, science educators and scientifically informed community members. He now serves as a research associate in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University.

John Greally, a professor in the departments of Genetics, Pediatrics, and Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Greally’s research is in the area of epigenomic regulation of the genome and its dysregulation in disease.

Aaron Golden, an astrophysicist by training who now is an associate professor in the Department of Genetics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He develops machine-learning approaches to the problems of signal enrichment and pattern recognition in genomics/epigenomics, the microbiome and metabolome, and also is exploring how techniques developed among members of the Virtual Observatory community could assist the data/compute issues confronting the life sciences community.
