New XSEDE Remote Visualization and Data Analytics Resource, Maverick, is Scheduled for Deployment in February 2014.

Concurrent with Maverick entering production will be the decommissioning of the TACC Longhorn remote visualization cluster. Longhorn will remain in production for two weeks following the date Maverick begins production, at which time the compute nodes will be turned off and users will no longer be able to submit jobs. Longhorn users will, however, still be able to log into the system and access (in read-only mode) files in their $HOME and $SCRATCH directories to facilitate migration of their projects to Maverick. This limited access to Longhorn will continue through Monday, March 31, 2014. More detailed information on the migration period will be sent as we approach the Maverick production date.

XSEDE PIs with Longhorn allocations will automatically receive an allocation on Maverick. The amount of Maverick allocation will be .4 of the Longhorn balance on the first day of Maverick production. Allocation expiration dates will remain the same.

XSEDE PIs with Longhorn allocations expiring March 31, 2014 should request Maverick in the renewal proposals they submit within the proposal submission window December 15, 2013 - January 15, 2014.
