Earlier this month, Dr. Geoffrey Fox from Indiana University will tell us a tale of two data-intensive computing paradigms. On the one hand, there is a great deal of work being done in the area of Hadoop and MapReduce, which constitutes one part of this story. On the other side, of course, there’s high performance computing. While both share a few critical elements in common, they require some different approaches—even if the lines between them seem blurred.
