White House Looking for CS Student Success Stories

President Obama has spoken repeatedly about the importance of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education and the importance of inspiring more boys and girls to excel, experiment, and make in these critical domains. The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy is currently looking for examples of junior high and high school students who have built technology tools that advance science and technology or have a real impact on American citizens.

Just as an example, you can look at some of the students that were invited to the White House science fair in its first year, http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2010/10/18/president-obama-host-white-house-science-fair, or in its second year, http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2012/02/06/background-exhibits-students-and-competitions-white-house-science-fair.

We would love to get short descriptions of 5-10 students, along with any photos of projects you may have. These individuals or teams should be current or recent students. Please be sure to include the following:

·         Name, age, home state of all participants
·         Project title
·         Picture of winners (and winning project)
·         Short compelling paragraph on the winners, their backstory, and the goal of their project

There are a number of potential upcoming events where this information would be immensely useful, so we request your expedited reply.

Feel free to follow up with any questions.

Thanks,
Brian Forde
