Description: The Language Applications (LAPPS) Grid is an infrastructure that provides easy, centralized access to a wide range of natural language processing (NLP) modules and resources deployed as interoperable web services. The LAPPS Grid facilitates the discovery and composition of custom NLP applications suited for use across a wide range of disciplines, from genomics and bioinformatics to digital humanities. The LAPPS Grid utilizes the Galaxy workflow engine, which was originally designed for genomics researchers, in order to provide easy, intuitive access to data and software for users with little or no computational expertise. The LAPPS Grid has provided the infrastructure to support various courses and tutorials, and is currently being configured to enable researchers across the sciences to mine scientific publications.
