In coordination with the ACCESS team, XSEDE has paused the processing of Startup, Education, and other allocation requests from August 17-31. This pause will ensure that no requests are lost while we are making infrastructure updates behind the scenes and handing things over to ACCESS. If you have questions, contact help@xsede.org. The ACCESS team will resume taking allocation requests on September 1 via https://access-ci.org/.

Applying for an NSF RUI grant...how to include XSEDE in the proposal

Hi,
I'm in the process of writing an NSF RUI proposal and I was looking for advice on how to properly include an XSEDE allocation in the proposal. It's a bit of a chicken and egg problem. I have a start-up allocation on XSEDE and will certainly apply for a larger allocation in the near future. However, in an NSF RUI proposal, the guidelines indicate that I should include a letter of support from any facilities that I will be using. It seems like one's chances for obtaining a larger XSEDE allocation are greatly improved if one has a separate grant (indicating that the science has been reviewed).

So, how do I propose to do work using XSEDE in my NSF RUI grant when I don't yet have a full allocation...? Can I request an XSEDE allocation in an NSF RUI grant?

So I simply indicate that I will submit an allocation request to XSEDE using my RUI grant if it were funded?

Thanks for any thoughts!

Cheers,
tom
